What is the cost of tree removal service?

8/1/2019

Removing the main trunk during tree removal service
If you think tree removal is expensive, you are not mistaken. It will cost you some cash to have that damaged or dead tree removed, but it is worth every penny you shed. There is no fixed price for tree removal because every tree contractor based the cost on different variables. Knowing the factors being considered by tree service companies in determining the cost of tree removal can help you have an informed decision when it comes to the future of your tree.

Most tree removal companies include cutting the tree down into smaller and manageable segments in the cost. However, in some cases, the clean-up efforts and hauling the debris away is not part of the total cost, so make sure to check with your prospective contractor.

The following are some services that may not be included in standard tree removal and will cost you additional expenses:
  • Stump removal- It is very rare to see a tree company that provides stump removal in their package. If you don't want additional charges, you can choose to be left with an ugly stump in your yard. Keep in mind that it is much cheaper to remove a rotting stump than a healthy one.
  • Limb chipping- Most companies have their chippers with them when they remove your tree so you can ask them to either haul the limbs away or place them into the chippers. If this service is not in the original pricing, it can add $100 or so to your total bill.
  • Tree trunk removal- You can expect the tree removal company to reduce the size of the trunk into manageable sections, but that doesn't include them hauling them away. If you want them to stack the limbs anywhere in your property, you can expect an additional charge of around $100 to get the job completed.
  • Log splitting- You will benefit from the cut wood if you turn them into firewood. A lot of tree removal companies bring their log splitting equipment for this purpose, so make sure to ask. This extra service can add $75 to the total amount of tree removal cost.

How much does it cost to remove a tree?
After knowing the extra fees you need to pay besides the standard tree removal cost, it's time to discuss how much you need for the actual tree removal. The cost of tree removal is primarily based on the size of the tree. The size and circumstances of the tree and its surroundings are considered to determine the final cost.
  • Large tree removal ($1500)- If you are looking for a company to remove your tree for a hundred dollars, you are looking in vain. If you may chance upon low-ballers, you may be setting yourself for a scam. Keep in mind that your safety far outweighs any dollar saved for tree removal.
  • Fallen tree removal ($150)- Although removing a fallen tree is less tedious and expensive, it still comes with its own risks. Don't hesitate to ask the company you wish to hire if they will haul the logs away or if they will chip them into pieces.
  • Tree branch removal ($300)- In some cases, complete tree removal may not be necessary, and branch removal will do the trick. If it entails getting rid of branches entangled in power lines, it would be best to contact your utility service to handle the job for free. But, if you want to remove branches for aesthetic reasons, be ready to pay $300 to get the job done.
